Indiana Marching Bands Fight for Bragging Rights
A part of one of the State Fair’s longest running traditions, the 67th annual Music Travel Consultants State Fair Band Day brings together high school marching bands from all over the state. Each of the schools competing brings new music, costumes and choreography to the Hoosier Lottery Grandstand with hopes that their countless hours of practice will payoff.
During the morning session starting at 9 a.m., 10 judges will critique all 45 marching bands based on music, visual execution and general effect. The top scoring bands will gain a spot in the “Sweet 16” and battle for the title, “Indiana’s Best Band” in the finals beginning at 8 p.m.
Last year’s champion, Winchester Community High School, hopes to claim the title again with their show “David: Facing Life’s Giant.” Also returning this year after 56 years is Arsenal Technical H.S. ready to perform “Kapow! Super Music.”
