MARION COUNTY, Ind. — The Indiana Department of Transportation announces overnight lane and ramp closures are planned this week on I-465 for traffic sensor installation and bridge deck patching on the east side of Indianapolis.

The following overnight closures are planned for this week, weather permitting:

• Monday, October 27 (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.)
  • I-465 northbound reduced to one lane from Shadeland Avenue to 16th Street
  • I-74/Shadeland Ave. collector/distributor ramp to I-465 northbound closed

• Tuesday, October 28 (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.)
  • I-465 northbound reduced to one lane from Shadeland Ave. to 16th St.

• Wednesday, October 29, and Thursday, October 30 (8 p.m. to 5 a.m.)
  • I-465 southbound reduced to one lane from 16th St. to Shadeland Ave.

CLAY COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a road closure that will impact State Road 42 near Prairie City. 

Beginning on or after Tuesday, July 29, crews will be replacing a pipe on S.R. 42. south of I-70 in Clay County. Work is anticipated to last around a day but is weather-dependent and subject to change. The official detour around the closure follows S.R. 42 E. to C.R. 25 W. to E. C.R. 300 N. to N. C.R. 100 E. back to S.R. 42.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor E&B Paving, Inc. is scheduled to close State Road 56 over Goose Creek on or after Monday, June 23, to complete a bridge deck overlay project in Washington County.

The closure will take place between South Dog Trot Road and South Mill Creek Road located west of Salem.

Following this closure, an additional closure will take place on S.R. 56 over Mill Creek, also located between South Dog Trot Road and South Mill Creek Road. INDOT will provide additional information as work progresses.

Following both closures, S.R. 56 is expected to reopen in early August, weather permitting. During the closures, motorists should use the official detour which follows S.R. 337 to S.R. 37 to S.R. 60.

This work is part of a $3 million contract awarded to E&B in September 2024. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.

Evansville, Ind. – Motorists should be prepared for big changes on the Lloyd this week.

Here’s the expected schedule, weather permitting: 

Monday, June 16: Prep work begins along the Lloyd at Cross Pointe Boulevard and Burkhardt Road to begin the construction of dual displaced left turns at each intersection. Interior lane closures will be in place while crews remove concrete medians.

Tuesday, June 17: Left turns from eastbound Lloyd to northbound Stockwell will be temporarily prohibited for approximately one day to prepare for the opening of the redesigned Stockwell intersection.

Wednesday, June 18: After the morning peak travel period, crews will switch traffic to the new redesigned intersection at Stockwell Road and the Lloyd. Law enforcement officers will be on site to encourage traffic calming. With the new design, eastbound motorists wanting to go north on Stockwell will enter left turn lanes shortly after crossing Vann Avenue, well BEFORE the main intersection. Pay attention to signs and pavement markings to avoid missing your opportunity to go north. Westbound motorists wanting to go south on Stockwell will enter the left turn lane AFTER crossing through the Stockwell intersection.

Thursday, June 19: Rolling closures are planned as new pavement striping is added to the Lloyd between the Pigeon Creek Bridge and Stockwell Road.

Wednesday, June 18: Middle Mt. Vernon Road on the north side will be closed on this day or shortly after and will be closed for at least 14 days. The detour will be Schutte Road.

Ongoing work:

• Westbound University Parkway double-ramp closures continue through mid-July.
• Ramps for westbound Lloyd Expressway onto southbound U.S. 41 and southbound U.S. 41 onto the westbound Lloyd closed for approximately three weeks.

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – INDOT announces the closure of State Road 13 for bridge work being completed by the Indiana Toll Road.

Starting on or after June 9, a contractor for the Indiana Toll Road will be working on the S.R. 13 bridge over the toll road. Work on the project is expected to be complete in mid-September. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.

During the closure, drivers should use the official detour of State Road 120, State Road 15, Michigan State Road 103, and U.S. 12, or seek an alternate route. Local traffic will have access to County Road 4 from S.R. 13.

The official detour around the closure follows U.S. 150 to Pennington Road to S.R. 63 to U.S. 40 to U.S. 150.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor E&B Paving, Inc. is scheduled to close State Road 356 approximately three miles west of State Road 62 on or after Monday, May 12, to complete a pipe replacement project in Jefferson County.

The closure will take place between South Hunter Road and County Road West 350 South located between Lexington and Swanville. S.R. 356 is expected to reopen in mid-June, weather permitting. During the closure, motorists should use the official detour route, which follows S.R. 203 to S.R. 56 to S.R. 62.

Wayne County, Ind. (May 5, 2025) – Work continues on the Revive I-70 corridor in Wayne County this week, including relocating an overhead sign on eastbound I-70 near U.S. 40.

Drivers can expect the following:

Monday, May 5

• Short (20-minute) rolling slowdowns on eastbound I-70 from U.S. 27 to U.S. 40 (around midnight)
• One lane of eastbound I-70 closed from mile marker 155 to westbound U.S. 40/Exit 156A (8 p.m. to 7 a.m.)
• Ramp from eastbound I-70 to westbound U.S. 40/Exit 156A closed (8 p.m. to 7 a.m.)

Tuesday, May 6 through Friday, May 9

• Eastbound I-70 shoulder closures near mile marker 155 (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

Wednesday, May 7

• One lane of westbound I-70 closed from U.S. 27 to Clear Creek bridge (8 p.m. to 7 a.m.)
  • Rolling slowdown may be needed to move equipment (around 1 a.m.)

Delays Anticipated

Necessary traffic restrictions will cause delays on I-70. Drivers should plan ahead and use alternate routes, when possible.

TIPTON COUNTY, Ind. – On or after Monday, May 5, contract crews will begin patching, milling, and paving work on State Road 28/Jefferson Street in Tipton. The road will be resurfaced, and multiple drainage structures replaced between the junction of State Road 19/Ash Street and County Road S. 25 W.

Lane closures with flagging and a reduced 30 mph speed limit will be in place on S.R. 28 while milling and paving work is in progress. A short-term closure will occur in early June to replace three drainage structures. Access will be maintained for businesses and local residents up to the point of full closure. Additional information will be shared at a later date.

ALLEN COUNTY, IN – INDOT announces the beginning of construction of the quadrant roadway at the intersection of State Road 930 and Maplecrest Road.

Starting on or after March 17, crews will begin working on the quadrant roadway. During construction, a majority of the work will take place off the roadway in the southeast portion of the intersection. Drivers should watch for lane shifts and narrow lanes on S.R. 930 during construction. Work on the project is expected to last until the beginning of October. Quadrant roadways help improve safety at intersections by restricting left turns from the main intersection. Left turns are moved to the intersections with the new roadway. HARRISON COUNTY, Ind. – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Enneking Pressure Cleaning, Inc. is scheduled to begin work on State Road 62 on or after Monday, March 24, to complete two bridge rehabilitation projects in Harrison County.

Work will take place on S.R. 62 over Blue River and the Blue River Overflow Channel both located between U.S. 462 and Harrison Spring Road. Work is expected to be complete in mid-May, weather permitting. Flagging operations will be used at each location while work is in progress.

KNOX COUNTY, IN – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces lane closures for U.S. 50 in Knox County.

Beginning on or around Wednesday, March 19, crews will begin lane closures on U.S. 50 in Vincennes near Fort Knox Drive. These lane closures will occur in both the east and westbound passing lanes of U.S. 50.

Lane closures will allow for temporary crossover construction. Crossover construction is expected to take a month to complete, depending on the weather.

Crossover construction is the first phase of a three-phase bridge construction project over Fort Knox Drive.

LAPORTE COUNTY, IN – Construction is set to begin on INDOT’s U.S. 35/Indiana Ave pavement replacement and utilities project from Boyd Blvd to State Road 2/Lincolnway.

U.S. 35 northbound will be reduced to one lane between Crescent Dr and Kingsbury Ave on or after Thursday, March 13 through late April for storm sewer installation.

Motorists should also expect single lane traffic with flaggers directing traffic on U.S. 35 between State Road 2 and Kingsbury Ave on an intermittent/as needed basis through late November. 

The first main phase of construction will begin with the reconstruction of the intersection of Kingsbury Ave, Woodlawn Dr and U.S. 35 later this spring. Work will then continue with pavement replacement on U.S. 35 between Woodlawn Dr and South Ave.

This contract was awarded to F. H. Paschen S N Nielsen & Associates LLC and includes road reconstruction and utility work.

HOWARD COUNTY, IN – On or after Thursday, March 13, contract crews will close lanes on State Road 931 for asphalt paving and median construction work in Kokomo. Crews will also complete guardrail and pipe replacements, and signal repairs.

Drivers can expect lane closures and possible flagging at intersections between the south junction of U.S. 31 and Markland Ave. for paving, and restrictions between State Road 26 and U.S. 35 for median construction through late June, weather permitting. 

Later this year, concrete pavement restoration is planned on U.S. 31 between the north and south junctions of S.R. 931, in addition to a structure replacement project approximately two miles south of State Road 18. Additional information about this work will be shared at a later date.

LAKE COUNTY, IN – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Rieth Riley Construction will resume bridge work on I-65 between State Road 2 and State Road 10 on or after Monday, March 17.

Overnight lane closures will be utilized during the hours of approximately 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for approximately ten days to set up the traffic configuration for phase three of this project. Overnight lane closures will begin on the northbound side first and then continue southbound.

The phase three traffic configuration will have northbound traffic shifted to the right. Southbound traffic will be split, with the left lane as a counterflow lane on the northbound side and the right lane shifted to the right outside shoulder. Bridge construction will take place in the southbound left shoulder and median during this phase. 

Three bridges are being replaced along this stretch of I-65, which began with the northbound bridges in 2024. The southbound bridges will be replaced this year, with the project ongoing through fall 2025.

LAKE COUNTY, IN – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor F.H. Paschen, S.N. Nielsen & Associates LLC will have lane closures on U.S. 6/State Road 51 at I-94 beginning on or after Monday, March 17.

Alternating lane closures will occur between Old Hobart Rd and 22nd Ave for approximately two weeks for traffic signal work. There will also be lane closures on the ramp from westbound I-94 and eastbound and westbound I-90 (Indiana Toll Road) to northbound State Road 51.

This is pre-work ahead of the U.S. 6/State Road 51 bridge replacement over I-94. This extensive bridge project will be ongoing through 2026.

DECATUR COUNTY, IN – Central Railroad Company plans to temporarily close U.S. 421 next week for railroad crossing repairs in Greensburg.

On or after Tuesday, March 18, U.S. 421 will close to traffic between East Main Street (S.R. 46) and East Railroad Street in Greensburg. U.S. 421 is expected to reopen Thursday, March 20, weather permitting. The detour will follow S.R. 46 to S.R. 129 to S.R. 350 to U.S. 421.

KNOX COUNTY, IN – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a ramp restriction for U.S. 41 in Knox County.

HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. – In late March, construction activities will resume to add travel lanes on Interstate 70 between Mt. Comfort Road and one mile east of State Road 9 in Hancock County.

On or after Monday, March 24, westbound traffic on I-70 will shift to eastbound lanes between Mt. Comfort and Greenfield (MM 100 to MM 105). The I-70 entrance and exit ramps at S.R. 9 (Exit 104) will also close at that time.

• S.R. 9 ramp to I-70 WB closed for approximately 70 days, through early June
  • Official detour: I-70 EB to S.R. 109 (Exit 115) to I-70 WB
• I-70 WB ramp to S.R. 9 closed for approximately 90 days, through late June

The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph throughout the work zone. Construction is anticipated to be complete in October, weather permitting.
