Elon Musk Confirms DDoS Attack on X

In between the DDoS attacks, Elon Musk has confirmed the attack via X.

There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against 𝕏. We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. – @elonmusk

Dark Storm Claims Responsibility, But That’s Questionable

According to Legacy Media / Mainstream Media (MSM) sources, the hacktivist group Dark Storm has supposedly claimed responsibility.

This narrative is questionable since most hacking groups aren’t out to make such political statements, and the MSM is tying this to Russia as they seem to do for everything these days.

While we may never know who is actually behind this, it smells of government involvement. Taking down a website like ours via a DDoS is fairly simple, and it has happened before (it wouldn’t be shocking to have that happen after posting this). But taking down a service like X would require massive resources that even larger hacking groups probably don’t have at their disposal.

Food for thought. Just last week China said they’re ready for “any type of war”, and a cyberwar could very well fit the bill.

For the past three years when logging into Google’s AdSense we’ve been greeted with the notice, “Due to the war in Ukraine, we will pause monetization of content that exploits, dismisses, or condones the war”.

This has never sat well with us, so since then we’ve used AdSense sparingly and left that notice in place so that we see it anytime that we log into AdSense.

Where does Google get off dictating what we, THE PUBLISHER, say about the situation in Ukraine one way or the other?

Some advertisers probably don’t want their ads displaying near such content regardless of the stance. We get that. But how is that the publishers’ problem when we don’t control the ads at all? It isn’t!

We bring this up because the majority of the population has no idea what goes behind the scenes in media. Truth be told, this situation is rather minor. You should see what our newsdesk inbox looks like. Most of it isn’t newsworthy at all! To say agendas are being pushed constantly would be an understatement. In the future, we may give you a glimpse of that.
