]]> Washington, D.C. – Congressman Jim Baird (IN-04) has introduced the Hemp Planting Predictability Act to extend by two years a provision restricting the definition of legal hemp, originally passed in the FY2026 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agency Appropriations bill. He was joined by Representatives James Comer (KY-01), Angie Craig (MN-02), Tim Moore (NC-14), and Gabe Evans (CO-08) in the effort.

The legislation aims to provide farmers with more time to adjust to recent regulatory changes affecting hemp production, which disrupted pre-existing planting decisions made under earlier guidelines established by the 2018 Farm Bill. Several lawmakers emphasized the need for a stable environment and a clear regulatory framework for the growing industry, citing negative impacts on businesses in states like Minnesota and Colorado.
